Tell Me More About ECXC!

If you've NEVER been to ECXC before be sure to continue reading to learn more about the Off-Road Parks, the trails at these parks, accommodations in the area and how we wheel once we are at the parks.

If you have been to ECXC before then most of this will be familiar. Read on if you didn't attend last year as we changed things up a bit for last year and will continue that this year.

The Off-Road Parks

rausch creek orv park is located in Tremont, PA a few miles from Exit 107 of Interstate 81.  Rausch Creek is a small, well laid out off-road park with over 20 trails and access roads (some of which can be considered trails for some vehicles).  The park offers challenges for all levels of drivers.  The park's trails are mostly rocky with a few water holes and mud pits scattered throughout the park.  Deepening on the amount of rain the area has received, some trails can be wet from start to finish making them all the more interesting and challenging.

Rausch Creek rates trails on a color scale with Green being stock, Blue being intermediate, Black being difficult and Red being extreme.  The ratings are suggested and will vary depending on the truck as well the weather.  Green trails can be blue when they are wet and blue trails can be black when they are icy, etc.

Many of the trails in the park have more difficult, yet optional obstacles to challenge more experienced members in a group.  For instance, Trail 4 is a Blue rated trail with an optional Black obstacle.  Trail 1 is a Green rated trail with several Blue obstacles.

ECXC Wheeling

Although the name implies an all out, beat the crap out of your truck type event, the East Coast Xterra Challenge is set up to challenge all levels of wheelers.  Don't fear the name as we offer trails for completely stock vehicles driven by first time wheelers as well as trails for the experienced driver with a seriously built rig and everyone in between.

We place every driver into the group of their choice based on their Xterra's capability as well as the driver's experience.  We break up into 4 level of wheelers; stock, intermediate, advanced and hardcore with stock being the easiest of trails and hardcore being the most difficult.  In order to keep groups moving, we have multiple groups of each level of wheelers.

Accommodations

We will set up base camp at lickdale campground, about 30 minutes from Rausch Creek.  The campground is much nicer than Echo Valley and has much nicer bathroom and shower facilities!

There are several hotels across from the entrance to the campground, one is the Days Inn.  There are also several hotels in Pine Grove at exit 100 off of I81, the newest and nicest of which is the Hampton Inn.
